# Driver’s Education — Course Outline

**Life Academy** · High school elective · **0.5 Carnegie-unit credit** framing
**Audience:** Grades 9–12
**Tone:** Clear teen instruction — not childish, not “scare you forever”

---

## Important (read first)

This is **generalized United States driver education**. It covers universal rules of the road, signs, safety habits, and knowledge-test thinking used across most states.

**It does not replace your state’s requirements.** To earn a license (or learner’s permit), students must also:

1. Study their **state DMV / DOT handbook** (laws, speeds, and forms differ by state).
2. Complete any required **behind-the-wheel** hours with a licensed instructor or parent, as their state requires.
3. Pass their **state knowledge and skills tests**.

Life Academy completion = academic elective credit evidence for a homeschool transcript.
Life Academy completion ≠ a driver’s license.

**Sample transcript line:**
> *Driver Education — Life Academy — 0.5 credit — Grade: A — Evidence: Modules 1–8 quizzes passed; completion certificate dated; state handbook notes logged.*
