How to homeschool multiple kids at different grade levels

The secret to homeschooling several kids isn't doing more. It's making sure no child is waiting on you. Here's how families with 2–4 kids keep it calm.

1. Stagger "teacher time"

Give the youngest your attention first (they need it most and focus best early), while older kids start independent work. Then rotate.

2. Build independent work blocks

Older kids should be able to open the day's lesson, read or listen, practice, and take a self-grading quiz without you. That's how Life Academy lessons are designed from about 3rd grade up.

3. Combine what you can

Read-alouds, history discussions, nature walks, and science demos work across ages. Each child then does the written work at their own level.

4. One system for records

Separate notebooks for each child get lost. With the Family plan, each student (up to 4) has their own profile with separate progress, hours, reports, portfolio, and transcript. Switch students with one tap. Back up every student's records to a file anytime.

5. Use a simple daily board

One list per child: math, reading, one other subject, chores. Done means done. Our Today page shows each student's next lesson.

6. Get help with the one subject that's stuck

If one child needs more than you can give, a few tutoring hours on that subject frees up your day. Live tutoring with David is $35 an hour (first hour $25).
