Winter break is the most common time to switch. Here's a simple checklist so your child can start fresh in January without losing the year.
Some states want a notice before you start. Some want nothing. Open your state's page for the forms, deadlines and hours rules. Example: in Minnesota, a parent who withdraws a child (age 7+) mid-year reports to the superintendent within 15 days.
If your state needs a notice of intent, file it first, then send the school a short written withdrawal. Keep copies. Don't just stop sending your child: that can look like truancy. HSLDA's state law pages explain the details.
Not sure of the grade? Try the free placement check. Life Academy has 36 weeks per grade. In January you can:
Week 1 of every grade is free to try, no card needed.

Some states have ESAs, scholarships or tax credits that can pay for curriculum or tutoring. See what Life Academy is approved for, state by state.
