How we teach
These kids learn online. There is no classroom teacher in the room. Every lesson therefore starts with a how-to: pictures, numbered steps, a tap-and-try lab, then the quiz. A grown-up can sit nearby in K–5. Live help is virtual — Google Meet or Zoom on a laptop — never in person.
We do not claim a custom filmed lecture for every one of the 2,340 core lessons. That would be a lie. Story Studio covers all 36 weeks in K–5. Lesson Studio covers all 36 weeks in 6–12. The teacher is this page: a worked example, an on-campus lab, a quiz, and a teach-back. We do not send students to Khan, YouTube, or PhET to be taught.
The loop on every lesson
0. How-to (before you start)
A green box at the top of the lesson: listen, look at the pictures, do the lab, then quiz. Written for the age — Kindergarten is not 12th grade.
1. What you’re learning
One plain-English sentence. If the child can’t repeat it, we have not started yet.
2. I do — one worked example
Numbered steps. Not a speech. Pictures and an interactive model when the skill needs them.
3. We do — try with a coach
Guided fills you can check. Wait 10–20 seconds before rescuing the pencil.
4. You do — independent set
Practice that matches the title. Kindergarten counting is counting, not leftover addition from a template. Kindergarten Life Skills is names and safety, not rent.
5. Mastery check
A scored quiz that saves to the gradebook on this device. Friday mastery is the proof, not a sticker chart.
6. Teach-back
The student explains the example and names the usual mistake. If they can’t teach it, they don’t own it yet.
This page is the tutor
Tap Read the lesson aloud when you want to hear it. The pictures, the numbered steps, and the lab sit on Life Academy. The notebook, the quiz, and the teach-back still have to be the student’s. Chatbots do not take mastery Friday. Copying a walkthrough into the answer boxes is not the course. History uses public-domain documents hosted here. English I–IV write papers in Paper Studio with an on-site Citation Helper. See the program.
Parent stance: model briefly, wait, prompt with the rule or the text evidence, don’t take over. That is the same stance in Kindergarten unplugged coding and in 9th-grade Python. If you bought the grade and still get stuck, book
virtual tutoring — laptop, Google Meet or Zoom, never a classroom visit.
