How to Homeschool in Florida
A plain-English starting point for Florida families: the legal basics, a simple first week, and an online K–12 curriculum built to help you meet homeschool requirements.
Step 1: Know Florida's homeschool basics
In short: Notify your county superintendent within 30 days of starting, keep a portfolio, and complete an annual evaluation (several methods allowed). Alternatives: enroll in a private/umbrella school, or use a certified private tutor.
For the current statute, deadlines, and forms, see HSLDA's Florida homeschool law page. Statewide support group: FPEA.
This is a general summary, not legal advice. Homeschool laws change, and following them is the parent's responsibility. Check HSLDA or your state's education department before you start.
