Type an expression or tap the keys. It follows the order of operations, so check your answer the way your teacher expects.
Learn How it works
- Order of operations (PEMDAS): Parentheses, Exponents, Multiplication and Division (left to right), Addition and Subtraction (left to right).
- Degrees vs. radians: Geometry and most trig homework use degrees. Precalculus and calculus often use radians. Check the DEG/RAD button.
- Negative numbers: −3² means −(3²) = −9. Type (−3)^2 to square negative three.
- Keyboard: type directly, press Enter for =, Esc to clear. Use
^for powers and!for factorial.

(2+3)*4 | 20 | Parentheses first |
sin(30) in DEG | 0.5 | sin 30° = ½ |
sqrt(2)^2 | 2 | Square and square root undo each other |
log(1000) | 3 | 10³ = 1000 |

Answer, then tap Check. You get an explanation either way.
Exponent first (4), then 4×4 = 16, then 3 + 16 = 19.
The exponent applies to 3 only, then the negative: −(9).
